ON PAPER presents its annual printmaking contest to promote the art of printmaking and the connection between printmakers around the world.

The contest is open to anyone. Application is online at www.onpapercontest.com/application-form

Each artist can submit one piece of work on a paper size of 300mm x 400mm, (30cm x 40cm). The print size can be any within the size of the paper.  The work must have been made using any traditional printmaking techniques, including screenprinting, lithography, etching, collagraph, monotipe, electro-etching, woodcut, photopolymer, etc. We also encourage artists to use non-toxic techniques.  However, digital prints are not accepted.

The work must be relatively new, completed in the last couple of years, not before, and not have received a prize before.

The shortlisted artists will have their work shown in the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative, (Chicago, USA), in July 2017. An international jury will vote to select the shortlisted artists; the winner will be the artist with the most votes. There will be one award of 1000€ for the winning artist, and a second prize sponsored by The Awagami Factory, (Japan), of 50 sheets of eco-friendly Awagami Factory paper, worth 500€.

Submission to the contest has a fee of 25€, payable via paypal.  All artists who submit work to the contest will be shown on our website, onpapercontest.com, in the ‘PARTICIPANTS’ section for a minimum of one year.  Moreover, the shortlisted artists will be shown on onpapercontest.com in the ‘SHORTLISTED 2016’ section and will also be shared on ON PAPER’s social media.

As an agreement with the UB (Universitat de Barcelona), students from the ‘Facultat de Belles Arts de Barcelona’ are welcome to participate at no cost.  More information at info@onpapercontest.com

Deadline for submission is April 1st 2017.  The application process is entirely online at onpapercontest.com.

The documents required are:

· Resume or CV (Word DOC max. 1MB)

· Image of the work (JPG max. 1MB)

· Information about the print: technique, price or value and contact information.

 

The artists shortlisted for the prize and the exhibition will be notified by email before May 1st 2017.  The winner will be announced during the opening night of the show in July in Chicago, USA. The shortlisted artists must ship the selected work unframed and unmounted to the Chicago Printmakers address by the date supplied to them in their notification email. The artists are responsible for all shipping costs. By submitting to the contest you agree that if you are selected for the exhibition, your work will be available for sale by the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative during the exhibition period, CPC charge a commission fee of 40%.

After the exhibition, the artists will be able to arrange shipment (from Barcelona, Spain) or to pick up their own work after the show.  The work that hasn’t been picked up or shipped before the next award will become property of ON PAPER contest.  Alternatively, artists can donate the print to ON PAPER.

On PAPER organisation and the jury’s decisions on all things are final. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, the organisation reserve the right to change dates, location and awards.
