It represents a current body of research which explores modern mapping technology by manipulating and reinterpreting data collected from commercial 3d scanning equipment and GPS devices.
This image is created using 3D infra red scanning equipment to produce high definition imagery of landscapes. This data is then manipulated within commercial software enabling Hill to translate scientific data into aesthetic imagery. Through Photo-Intaglio techniques this data is transformed into an intaglio etching plate and printed using traditional intaglio techniques.
This current research explores the transitory and constantly evolving geographic properties of the liminal landscapes of the North West of England whilst also considering the potential of new technological and digital elements within contemporary fine art printmaking.
Through her work Hill is seeking to change our understanding of the history and narratives held in these complex and threatened Landscapes.
